I have maintained a studio for middle school and high school tuba and euphonium students even before moving to NC in 1999. The studio has consistently achieved a high success rate in the All District, All State and Governors School auditions.
Many students have continued their musical studies in college, and have attended prestigious music schools across the country, including New England Conservatory, University of Michigan, University of North Texas, University of Kentucky, North Carolina School for the Arts, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and UNC- Greensboro, to name a few. Continuing musical studies in college is rewarding and enriching, even if not pursuing a career in music.
I use a concept based teaching style, and supplement the school band experience with expert instruction specific to the tuba and euphonium. I believe every musician is self taught, and I show the student how to teach themselves how to improve and grow!!!
General Info
Lessons are taught in my studio in Midtown Raleigh. I use Google Meet if needed as a back up in emergencies, or when travel doesn't allow for in person lessons. Please park on the street. I will come out and get you at your lesson time. The studio entrance is in the back yard. Lessons are scheduled for one hour. 1/2 hour lessons are also possible when needed. All materials shall be provided by the student (Instrument, mouthpiece, valve oil, music...etc).
Scheduling
Available lesson times are limited. Preference is given to students scheduling regular times for each session, but single lessons will be available as well. The sessions are as following:
E-mail is the best way set up lessons. I will always confirm with date and time, as well as payment (reservation) info. I keep my teaching schedule on a google calendar that I fill in and you can view. You can see what is available (Open), and also what I have scheduled. If there is any discrepancy, please let me know. I recommended bookmarking this link, and checking it every Sunday evening as you plan out your week!!!
Payment
All lessons are pre-paid. Payment must be received to reserve your lessons once they are scheduled and confirmed. Payment can be made using ApplePay, Zelle or Venmo (Memo: reimbursement). Payment is $80 per hour lesson, $40 per 1/2 hour lesson.
Cancellation
Missed lessons are not guaranteed a make up time.
Inclement Weather
Safety is the most important thing. If road conditions are questionable, use your best judgement about venturing out. Let me know what you need to do, and we can make arrangements to make up the lesson, if it is possible.
