End of the Season
Well, year number three is in the books officially. My third year as music director and year twenty five for the band. We ended with two patriotic concerts over the weekend which went very well. We had good crowds and the band sounded good. The weather was nice and managed to not smoke or rain is out either night. I love playing patriotic music. It is so easy to connect with that music because it immediately invokes emotions, which is what we want to do with music anyways. It’s hard not to get energized playing America the Beautiful.
Here are a couple pictures from our concert in Apex at the new location:
Now that the band is on break until late august, there are many things to improve upon organizationally which the board and I am working on. Next season is going to be awesome. We will record two albums to be released over the next couple years. We will welcome Phil Smith of the New York Philharmonic as a guest soloist playing a world premiere cornet concerto in commemoration of our 25 years and to look forward to 25 more. We will host the Cary HS band for a concert with us and will try out a new venue in Cary. We will also have a concert with all three of our bands together for the very first time. Even playing together as a band of nearly 100 players. Past music directors and resident conductors will guest conduct as well.
So, I am really looking forward to the next season. I hope our fans are as well. It will be the best one yet.
