Duke Chapel Easter

Posted on

Duke Chapel puts their Sunday services online, it appears. Here is the link for a video of Easter service at Duke Chapel from last weekend. It is a little over an hour long, streaming. You can skip through it, towards the end and hear the ending of Gustav Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony no. 2. The brass parts are covered with 4 trumpets, 2 horns, three trombones, tuba (me) and percussion. Strings are covered with organ. The choir is really good, and the organist, David Arcus is first rate. He also arranged the other music played with the hymns, mostly. The choir conductor, Rodney, is always enjoyable to work under. He is a pro, and very good, and expects high quality work. I do not play very many church gigs, which is good. I do love playing this one because it is done so well, with good players all around.
