What? A gig?
For the first time in a long time, I had to play my tuba somewhere other than my studio, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Tar River Orchestra. It was a lot of driving, but I do not mind that. I did not have to spend but a half hour there each rehearsal. There was some untidy playing going on around me, but it still came off OK. Got to watch a little college football between the rehearsal and the concert. They also handed me the music for the TR Symphonic Band concert in two weeks. The program is pretty good. Thick, and there is some meaty stuff that will need to be practiced. Star Wars Suite, Romeo and Juliet Suite (Prokofiev), and some other stuff. I can already hear the trumpets whining. Should be fun to play all that stuff.
Youth Band auditions were all day Sunday. The run down for that will be along soon.
